Mrs Lauren Arthurson

I grew up on a 1300-acre farm 1.5 hrs from Echuca. It was the most idyllic childhood you could imagine. I loved the farm and growing up in a small community where we all looked out for each other. Unfortunately, I remember the distress families of our small community experienced when specialist medical care was required. It was not available. We had to get by with what the local services could provide or experience the separation from our families and the community to access services in Melbourne.  

 

I hold a Bachelor of Speech Pathology and Master of Health Service Management and am very passionate about bridging the gap between regional and metropolitan health services to ensure everyone has access to excellent health care.

 

I have over 20 years’ experience working in the public health sector as a Speech Pathologist in large tertiary health services in both Melbourne and London. I also have extensive skills in health service development and project implementation and have been very fortunate to lead stroke service development at Echuca Regional Health since moving to Echuca with my husband and three children.

 

It is incredibly rewarding to be involved in regional health service development, especially utilising telehealth to enable access to specialist medical input. I am able to see the impact of these developments on a daily basis. I see the patient and family relief when they have had access to stroke specialist care with a clear plan developed and I see the knowledge, skills & confidence of the local team grow when they have access to these mentors. I cannot wait to see the results of the BUILDS innovation.
